Fear of Falling Or Falling Due to Fear? Like depression, incontinence, muscle weakness and home hazards, a fear of falling is risk factor for increased falls. Fear of falling can be especially difficult to acknowledge as we endeavor to keep ourselves safe from falls by moving less. Decreased mobility then creates a vicious cycle of moving less and simultaneously reducing our strength, flexibility and balance. Bio: Rhonda Berney is a Family Physician and Geriatrician who lives in Sebastopol. After her medical training at UC San Diego she practiced for 35 years, including at Kaiser Santa Rosa, in Sebastopol solo practice then at the Sebastopol Community Health Center. She has also taught at the Santa Rosa Familly Medicine Residency as UCSF clinical faculty since 1990.

Now semi-retired, she continues to teach and does patient education at the Sebastopol Community Health Center.  She and her mandolin are active in the local music community, while horses and grandparenting take up much of her remaining time.
