The term caregiver refers to anyone who provides physical, emotional, financial, or logistical support to someone with a disabling condition. It is important for them to know about the free resources available to support! Find out if you are a caregiver by taking the quiz HERE.

Caregiving Resources

  • AARP - Enhancing the quality of life as we age, offering support, resources, and information.

  • Area Agency on Aging (AAA) - The mission is to provide leadership, services and advocacy to promote the dignity, independence and quality of life for older adults, adults with disabilities and their caregivers.

  • California Caregiver Resource Centers - Founded in 184, a network of 11 centers throughout California that serve family caregivers who are providing support for someone affected by chronic and debilitating health conditions, including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebrovascular diseases (such as stroke or aneurysms), degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and multiple sclerosis, or traumatic brain injury (TBI), among many others.

  • California Department of Aging administers the Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP), funded by the federal Older Americans Act (OAA), through contracts with the network of Area Agencies on Aging (AAA).

  • CareNav - A simple, user-friendly tool designed to help families navigate the complexities of the caregiving journey. Please call toll-free at 800.445.8106.

  • Family Caregiver Alliance - Offers free and low-cost services in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Contact a staff member about your caregiving situation, answer questions, and provide tailored resources and tools.   • Russian River Caregiver's Support Group—16390 Main St in Guerneville, Maisie Hak, ASW Facilitator, 707-542-0282 ext.103. Meetings are every second Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. Drop–ins are welcome.

Local Food Resource Programs

  • Council on Aging: This organization delivers meals to your home. Please call 707-525-0143 for an application, OR for Drive-up Pick-up meals please register by calling 707-525-0142 x121.

  • Grocery Delivery: to your home by using www.instacart.com/ (fees associated with this service)

  • Get help paying for groceries. Apply for CalFresh benefits by calling the Food Connections team at the Redwood Empire Food Bank at 707-523-7903.

  • Harvest Cafe at SASC: Join our weekly diners for lunch M - Th or Friday for brunch. Learn more -HERE-

  • Saint Vincent De Paul Society offers monthly groceries for anyone in need. The food pantry is at St Sebastian Catholic Church, 7983 Covert Lane, Sebastopol. Groceries can be picked up Monday through Saturday by appointment only. Please call 707-623-1051 and leave a message. Someone will call you back and meet you at the pantry with groceries.

  • Sick with COVID? Call Food For Thought (707-887-1647) to get free food delivered for you AND your family. 

  • The Inter-Church Food Pantry: Providing staples and groceries at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church, 500 Robinson Road in Sebastopol, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For questions, call the message line at 707-823-2483.

  • The Redwood Empire Food Bank offers free food distribution at these locations and times:

  • The Sebastopol Christian Church: Located at 7433 Bodega Ave, Sebastopol offers free lunches Monday - Thursday, 9am - 1pm. Ring the doorbell. They also offer free hot breakfast Monday & Thursday, 7am to 11am. Call the church at 707.823.8242 for details.
