Position: Part Time Retail Associate at The Legacy Store

Summary: The Legacy is seeking an outgoing part time retail associate to support our very busy crafting consignment shop. The Legacy’s Retail Associate facilitates the day-to-day continuity of the normal flow of volunteers/donations/sales. This position works through and with a largely volunteer workforce. The Legacy Retail Shop, located at 789 Gravenstein Hwy S, is an integral part of the Senior Center’s ability to provide quality services.
Essential Job Duties:
Train and work with store volunteers by sorting, pricing and promoting products and inventory.
Helps customers by providing information, answering questions, and addressing any customer issues that may arise
Share responsibility of daily openings and closings with Store Management.
Responsible for social media management (Facebook and Instagram), posting 3 times per week.
Secondary Job Duties:
Assists volunteers (as needed) in operation of cash register.
Help provide a safe and clean store environment by helping with cleaning tasks (vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash).
Supervise the appropriate use of all electronics/utilities/appliances/phone.
Work Schedule:
Up to 6-hour workdays up to 20 hours per week, generally between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch before the 6th hour, or as negotiated with supervisor. Saturday availability is required. Evening work may be required. Help with coverage when Management take are out. Staff might be asked to participate in 3-4 weekend events/activities per year. Employees shall never work more than 8 hours in any one day nor more than 40 hours in any one week without the express written consent and request of the Legacy Management
Materials/Equipment Used Daily:
Square POS, Outlook e-mail and calendar, Google Drive, 10-key calculator, other industry-specific equipment, our CRM database, vacuum

Ability to work in an indoor climate-controlled environment including sitting at a desk.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be physically able to lift and carry trash and inventory (large donations), move shelving, stand on ladders, and transfer miscellaneous boxes and packages from one location to another (up to 25 pounds)
Ability to hear and react to conversations and information given in sometimes noisy, confusing environments both indoors and outdoors.

The position requires the ability to function successfully within the many expectations of a retail crafts shop, for the Senior Center as an entity, as well as the ability to work independently. The position requires a cooperative approach toward other staff, volunteers, and members of the community and the patience to respond to seniors. English language proficiency is required.
