SASC Endowment Trust

A cornerstone of sustainability.

Endowment funds are a cornerstone of sustainability, designed to generate income through interest and dividends while preserving the principal investment.

In 2018, the Sebastopol Area Senior Center Board of Directors established an Endowment Trust to secure the long-term future of our services. The funds are strategically invested to achieve growth while minimizing risk, with a strong focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This includes a commitment to limiting investments in fossil fuels. Thanks to careful management, the fund continues to grow and is now valued above the total amount donated, despite market challenges.

Eventually, the fund will provide annual unrestricted and sustainable income. This can help us transition from “survival” fundraising to a sustainable future. Endowment donors usually continue their annual ongoing support of our services and make a special gift to the Endowment. Why an Endowment?

Our Endowment Trust will eventually provide a consistent, unrestricted income, allowing us to shift from “survival” fundraising to a sustainable funding model. This ensures the Senior Center can thrive and serve the community for generations to come.

Endowment donors often continue their annual support while making a special gift to the Endowment, helping us build a lasting legacy.

"My Great-grandmother adored the Sebastopol Senior Center. It was a vital part of her life. Having grown up on Wilton Avenue, I saw many joyful seniors coming and going from the center with such great smiles, a sense of camaraderie, connection, and community.  Now that I am a senior and a member, I am very grateful for its vital role in enhancing the lives of our invaluable elders." -Julie Peterson
