  • The Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging is committed to creating welcoming and knowledgeable services, programs, and systems for LGBTQI people.  The Sonoma County Senior Resource Guide provides an excellent directory of local organizations, services, and programs.  (707) 565-5950.

  • LGBTQ Connection This organization offers discussion groups, no-cost counseling, and even a local radio show for LGBTQ seniors. Meetings are in Santa Rosa and Guerneville. Visit the website (707) 251-9432.

  • Sonoma County - Outbeat Radio Every Sunday Night 8 p.m. Since 1999 Outbeat Radio has been the Voice of the North Bay's LGBTQ Community.

  • We The People is a source for news articles, events, and information for LGBTQI individuals. Includes local, regional, national, and international items. 

  • Listening for a Change  - Listening for a Change creates connections, one story at a time.  Their mission is to promote understanding and acceptance of human diversity through education, oral history, and the arts.  (707) 578-5420

  • Our Family Coalition is a San Francisco and North Bay-based organization working to advance equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer families with children through support, education, and advocacy. (415) 981-1960.


Bay Area Resources

  • The Bay Area Bisexual Network’s (BABN) mission is to develop a healthy, vibrant, multicultural bisexual community in the Bay Area and to promote a better understanding of bisexual lives and issues within the larger LGBT community and the public. BABN offers information and referral services, cultural & social events, and a monthly peer-support group. (415) 865-5627.

  • Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF) is a Minority Bar Association of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgendered persons, and their supporters, with over 500 members, including judges, lawyers, legal workers, and law students. It is a helpful resource for information about laws affecting the greater LGBT community. (415) 874-3045.

  • Community United Against Violence's (CUAV) mission is to prevent and respond to violence against and within our diverse LGBTQ communities. CUAV offers peer-based counseling, direct assistance, education and outreach, grassroots organizing, and policy advocacy. Support groups for LGBT people dealing with violence or abuse.   • Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) defines family broadly and inclusively and supports those caring for adults with chronic conditions like Alzheimer’s, MS, and stroke. Along with family consultation, education and respite, FCA’s website provides two LGBT caregiver fact sheets on legal issues and LGBT caregiver concerns.   • Gaylesta is a psychotherapist association that provides mental health services, including therapist referrals, education, and consultation. Their referral service provides help in locating an LGBT-friendly therapist near you. (415) 729-3996.

  • Lavender Seniors East Bay provides social activities, support, and networking for LGBT seniors in the East Bay to improve the quality of life of older LGBT residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.   • Openhouse in San Francisco provides housing information, friendly visiting, social get-togethers, workshops, case management, and other services and community programs to support the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender older adults and is building LGBT-friendly affordable housing for LGBT seniors.   • The Transgender Law Center (TLC) is a civil rights organization advocating for transgender communities. TLC connects transgender people and their families to culturally competent legal services, increases acceptance and enforcement of laws and policies that support California's transgender communities and works to change laws and systems that fail to incorporate the needs and experiences of transgender people.   • TransGender San Francisco is a support and social group for the entire transgender and gender non-conforming community. TGSF educates the public and promotes a positive image of transgendered persons.   • LGBT National Senior Hotline is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) National Senior Hotline that provides telephone peer support, factual information, and local resources for our senior community. No matter where they live, LGBT seniors have a place to call when they need peer support, information, and local resources.  1-888-234-7243.

  • Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) was founded in 1981 to ensure quality, nonjudgmental healthcare and to end workplace discrimination for LGBT healthcare professionals. Search for LGBT-friendly healthcare providers in your area. (202) 600-8037.

  • National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals According to NAGLREP (National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals), NAGLREP is the voice of LGBT Real Estate, serving LGBT and allied home buyers and sellers.

  • National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) Located in San Francisco, NCLR is a national nonprofit law firm that protects the legal and human rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender people across the United States through impact litigation, public policy advocacy, public education, and direct legal services.   • National Resource Center on LGBT+ Aging is the country's first and only technical assistance resource center focused on improving the quality of services and supports offered to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender older adults, their families, and caregivers. 877-360-LGBT(5428).
