SAIL Balance & Fitness Classes

SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life), an evidence-based balance and fitness program. Each class includes: aerobics, balance exercises, strength training, stretching.

Chair SAIL Annette’s class, only on zoom, can be done 100% seated as needed or partially standing as able, no instructor permission needed, assessments completed at the mutual agreement of student and teacher Days & Time: Tuesday & Thursday | 11am - 12pm

Chair-Stand SAIL Vickie and Campbell’s class, In person, about 50% seated and 50% standing, no instructor permission needed, assessments completed in a timely manner after class launches. Instructors will schedule assessments. Days & Time: Wednesday & Friday | 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Standing SAIL Julie’s class, hybrid, 100% standing, instructor permission needed (see form below), assessments to be completed prior to class admission, Julie will schedule. Days & Time: Tuesday & Thursday | 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Our Standing SAIL instructor will contact you by phone or email prior to assigning you to the appropriate class. Further assessment will be completed once you start to make sure the class is most appropriate for you.

About the Instructor: Julie Smith completed her degree in Physical Therapy from UCSF in 1985, after finishing her undergraduate work at UC Berkeley. Julie recently retired from North Santa Rosa Physical Therapy after having been in private practice in Sebastopol for the last six years. In her practice, Julie focuses on general orthopedics, chronic pain, Parkinson’s Disease and balance training. She has been a Feldenkrais practitioner for over 20 years and is a certified clinician in LSVT BIG, an intensive exercise regimen for people with Parkinson’s Disease.
