Events Coming For Men & Women:
Pompeii Had Pride 2000 Yeas Ago!
Sexuality and identity in Pompeii was much more expansive than you may have thought. The Legion of Honor in San Francisco is currently hosting a big exhibit about Pompeii. In a recent blog post, sexologist Dr. Carol Queen shares about the complex history of sexual identity and expression in the Roman city and how it relates to our home city of San Francisco. In 1973 All Homosexuals Were “CURED!”
The movie “CURED” highlights a little-known story from the past, its lessons are profoundly relevant today. Watching this preview will give you a very good sense of what happened in 1973: https://www.cureddocumentary.com/
I was in high school in 1973, and not yet out as a gay man. I am so happy to learn about this now and I honor all the Heros who taook part and made this happen! This is momentous! Please watch this Movie’s Trailer.
WE MUST REMEMBER
CURED highlights a pivotal but little-known moment in LGBTQ history when activists rose up to challenge a formidable institution — and won! Described as “fascinating” (Hollywood Reporter), “riveting” (The Queer Review) and “one of the best documentaries of this or any year” (British Film Institute) — and the winner of Audience Favorite awards at Frameline, the world’s oldest and largest LGBTQ film festival — CURED takes viewers inside the David-versus-Goliath battle that led the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to remove homosexuality from its manual of mental illnesses in 1973. The film spotlights a diverse group of activists who achieved this epic victory in the movement for LGBTQ equality. Watch the trailer for CURED.

If you want to attend the Billy Gathering (I am going). You can attend all or part of June 29 - July 5, go here: https://thebillys.org/event/summer-gathering/
Who are the Billys? “The Billys is a heart-centered community woven together by shared values and by our shared experience as gay, bi, and queer men. We strive to be present and mindful with ourselves and each other as we gather four times a year in extraordinary rural venues in Northern California, and now in collaboratively created, rich online venues. Each gathering is a work of art, carefully crafted by Billys to take us to places of joy and playfulness, intimacy and openness, creativity and self-expression. We embrace everyone with deep welcome and radical acceptance.”
Also Lazy Bear is happening this year in Guerneville. I go every year. (I plan on going, need tickets or can sign up to volunteer, which I have done, it is a great way to meet folks) https://www.lazybearweek.org/
The Billys also host local potlucks (soon to be restarting) for gay & bi men, and gay & bi transmen, (transmen are men). To be notified of these, sign up here https://thebillys.org/mailing/
