Endowment

Endowment funds are invested, and are designed to use interest and dividends, while leaving the principal investment untouched.   

The Sebastopol Area Senior Center Board of Directors started an Endowment Trust in 2018 to ensure long-term sustainability. The funds are invested to seek a balance to facilitate growth while limiting risk. Our investments emphasize Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria, with specific emphasis on limiting investments in fossil fuels. Despite market difficulties the fund is growing, and worth more than what has been donated.

Eventually, the fund will provide annual unrestricted and sustainable income. This can help us transition from “survival” fundraising to a sustainable future. Endowment donors  usually continue their annual ongoing support of our services and make a special gift to the Endowment.
